Reviews and Ratings
The apartment was ideal for our stay in Edinburgh, perfect for three adult friends, offering better accommodation than a regular triple bed hotel room. It provided all the necessary facilities, including a dishwasher and washer/dryer, making our stay comfortable. The only downside was that the rooms were not serviced on one of the weekdays.
I have to say the hotel's location was absolutely perfect, just a few meters off the Royal Mile, offering a great central spot with pubs, restaurants, shopping, and sightseeing all around. The rooms were not only perfectly located but also looked as great as in the pictures, fully equipped with a small kitchen that proved to be very handy for our family of six adults and an elderly aunt who arrived by train. However, the dining experience, although good, lacked room service, yet taking breakfast to the room from the adjacent restaurant was allowed. The service provided by the staff was exceptional, being both very helpful and knowledgeable about the city. The housekeeping and grocery shopping service made our stay even more convenient.
The hotel is conveniently located just steps away from the Royal Mile and St Giles Cathedral, offering a quiet retreat away from the city center's noise. However, being situated near a main lane way and pub can be disruptive, especially late at night. The ground-floor room in family unit 25 provided both advantages and disadvantages during the stay.
This hotel is a gem in the heart of Edinburgh, offering easy access to all the city has to offer. The rooms are well-appointed, making it convenient for any type of stay, whether you need a studio or a family room. The service is top-notch, with friendly and helpful staff always at your service. The location is superb, away from the hustle and bustle but close enough to explore the Old Town. Dining options are good, although lacking room service, and the facilities are excellent for a comfortable stay.
My stay at the hotel was a mixed experience. The rooms were very comfortable and beautiful, with a cozy bed and all the amenities one might need. However, it was quite cold even though the heating system was at the max, and the noise from the local bar opposite kept me up past midnight, affecting my sleep. Overall, it was a perfect fit for my family's needs.
Staying at the Townhouse on Advocates Close was an absolute delight. The rooms offer a brilliant location, overlooking our terrace, and the service was superb, with helpful recommendations for everything from dry cleaners to hidden gems to visit. The location is simply fantastic, close to the Royal Mile yet peacefully removed from the tourist chaos. The dining experience before heading into the city was a great traditional European treat. However, the uphill climb with luggage to find the hotel could be a challenge, and although reasonably priced, it was a little hard to locate. Overall, definitely worth the visit!
